Bolt Forge Gives You 50x More Usage — for the Price of Your Code

In AI coding, the most expensive thing has always been the free thing. You think you're getting 50x usage for nothing; in reality, you're the raw material on someone else's training line.

Three key facts

On September 14, Bolt.new launched Bolt Forge as a research preview running through October 14. Individual Pro subscribers get up to 50x more usage of open models inside Forge — at no extra cost.

There's no free lunch. To unlock that 50x, you opt in to sharing your anonymized build sessions — prompts, code, and the full trace of how you fixed things — with Arcee AI, which uses them to train what it calls a trillion-parameter-class open-weight model. Bolt says the data is anonymized and stripped of sensitive information before transfer, under a signed data processing agreement.

Forge runs on GLM 5.3 Flash (default) and GLM 5.3, plus experimental options like Kimi K3 and DeepSeek v4 Pro. On Bolt's own Build Index, this open-model cohort scores 92.2 against 101 for the top paid model — roughly 91% of the best.

That "50x" number isn't Bolt being generous; it's Bolt being short on cash. It can't afford to buy training data, so it pays in open-model quota — which barely costs it anything — for the most valuable thing you own: real prompts, real code, real 2 a.m. debugging sessions. The 9-point gap on the Build Index (92.2 vs 101) is the actual price tag of this "free" 50x.

And about those four words, "anonymized and stripped." A prompt is stuffed with your API keys, your company's business logic, your client's ugliest special requirements. Deleting the key doesn't delete the signal — and the signal is exactly what Arcee wants. So the real question isn't whether 50x is a good deal (for a toy project, obviously yes). It's this: if that session contained your startup's entire backend, would you still tick the box?
